Sherman, My Hero...

Well, we are no longer nomads as of 2 weekends ago. We sold our sweet first house in Arlington and have been living with Skip’s mom, who graciously took us in for the summer…We now are living in a townhouse / apartment in North Richland Hills. It has 3 bedrooms, garage, cable and a washer / dryer…everything we need! Moving was crazy as it usually is…We had all of our stuff in 2 PODS which were scheduled to be delivered that Friday. Well, they put the first POD in our driveway, then when the second POD arrives, there is no where to put it due to the newly created construction zone in the parking area closest to us so…what do they do? Try to look for a spot you say? Let the movers unload the first one then move the second one into the driveway? NO. He drives off with my POD without even trying and yells out the window as he is driving away with all my worldy possessions that I would have to re schedule. I stand in my new front grass square crying. Well, I say, maybe it will be ok because one of the PODS had all our furniture in it, and the other had stuff that was basically storage. I eagerly unlock the padlock, pull up on the door to find……crap. So the movers that we had scheduled come unload our “crap” into the garage and then say they will come back when the other POD comes back. I call PODS desperately begging 80 year old customer service rep Shirley to help me. But to no avail. I call back again determined to find justice. Robert then proceeded to promise me that the other POD would be there first thing Monday morning even though the schedule was full he would fit me in. Thanks Robert. So all weekend goes by with us not able to really do anything because everything we needed was in the other POD. Monday morning rolls around and the empty POD still has not been picked up. It must be picked up or there will be the same problem of no where to put the full one. I call. Guess what happens…Nothing. Then my knight in shining armor shows up in the form of Sherman. Sherman said don’t worry, its my job. Ill get it done. Music to my ears. So as he finagles the PODS around and gets the full one in the driveway and the empty one on his truck, I go to the donut shop to get him breakfast for his awesomeness. I really appreciate when customer service people actually provide customer service. So the rest is history…the movers get us unloaded, we get things set up after a few late nights…There is still an explosion of boxes in our garage, but other than that, we are doing pretty good. So come see us at our amazing new place! It pretty much look like every other apartment you’ve ever seen in your life! :)

-I heard this Chris Tomlin song on the radio driving in this morning and although I had heard it many times before, God really allowed me to be struck by certain words today in particular. I was truly reminded of the power of our God and the majesty of His creation. I love the line that asks, "Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light"?? I mean, wow! Our God, the God that directs each lightning bolt, is the source of the light of the sun, that forms our children in the womb and knows when a sparrow falls...is the same God that loves even a wretch like me and has chosen to save me and give me eternal life.

From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation's revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untamable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God

Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light
Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name
You are amazing God
All powerful, untamable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
You are amazing God

Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untamable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
INCOMPRABLE, unchangeable
You see the depths of my heart and You love me the same
You are amazing God
You are amazing God

My girl...

First picture...September 8, 2006

Dear sweet baby girl,

Happy 2 year old birthday! You have no idea how much you are loved and adored by your daddy and me. Ever since the day you were born we have been in love with you. We prayed for you before we even met you or saw your face and God has truly blessed us beyond what we could ever have dreamed of! Your blue eyes, cute hair, cute little button nose, fingers, toes…your sweet and loving spirit, your willingness to share, your beautiful little voice, your spunk and craziness, your smile and infectious laugh, your love for animals and nature…We love all the things you say…”thank you, I love you, oh man, cool mommy :) “. I love your kisses, cuddling with you, I love when you ask me to hum with you at night…Thank you for teaching me so many things.- Patience, unconditional love…I see your face and I want to be the best person and the best mommy I can be for you. I pray everyday that God develops me in ways that allow you to see Him through me. I pray that you grow up to be a healthy, happy person and that you have Jesus in your heart.
This is something hard to fully express in words…But just know that you are mommy and daddy’s best girl forever :) and that you are loved more than words could ever say!
Happy Birthday Reeseie girl!

The Blustery Day

As I walked from my car to the trolley (yes, that’s right, trolley) to go to work this morning trying not to be blown away…I found myself thankful for the remnants of Gustav, and filled with hope that fall is on its way! Fall. My favorite time of year. It means leaves, long sleeve t weather, the new fall line at the Gap, football, the beginning of the holiday season, apple cider, punkin patches, playing outside, the smell of fireplaces lighting up for the first time…my heart is beating faster just writing this! It also means the start of a new season of tv. So with my trusty fall preview edition tv guide and highlighters in hand, I am ready to set my DVR for the season to come. For all these reasons and many more, I am full of excitement about this fresh, crisp, beautiful fall that in my book, started today!
Happy Fall everyone!!
